clay pottery workshop

Taught by Night Owl Pottery

Join Adriana Lemus from Night Owl Pottery for a clay workshop where you will be making a Ceramic Vase. You will learn the basics of working with clay using the slab construction method and decorating using glaze transfers.
This intro to clay workshop includes cone 5 speckled clay, all materials and tools to use during the workshop, glaze and firing, glaze transfers for decorating, and instruction by experienced ceramic artists! Once your vase is created, you will leave it with the instructors where they will take it back to their studio in San Luis Obispo to be fired, glazed (painted), and fired a second time. This process takes about 4-5 weeks. When complete, your piece will be brought back to Hotel SLO to be picked up.
Class fee includes all materials and supplies - you just need to bring your creativity. Note that each class will work on a particular project as indicated in the Class list. Drinks, cocktails, and light bites will be offered at an additional cost.

About Night Owl Pottery

Night Owl Pottery is a combination and collaboration of ceramic work by artist Adriana Lemus and natural builder Chad Franco. They create almost all of their pottery at night-thus, Night Owl Pottery. Both artists are from the Central Coast and come from artist families. Adriana Lemus studied art at UC Berkeley and has been showing her work on the Central Coast and in the Bay area for the past five years. Chad Franco studied natural building and permaculture design in Santa Cruz, Texas, and Portugal, this led to organizing his own workshops and commission work within the community. Both artists sell their work at local Makers Markets, online, and are currently working on commission work for restaurants, hotels, spas, and homes. We've recently had Emma Anselm of Clay Babe pottery join our team!
