A large-scale painting by Sarah Winkler hangs in our pre-function space adjacent to the Seven Sisters Ballroom. Her work captures geological episodes on the landscape, referring to geological history as well as the striking beauty of the present day of the Seven Sister mountain range, a prominent landscape feature near SLO.
Sarah Winkler is a British born, American contemporary landscape painter who studied Art and Earth Science at William Paterson University, NJ. She is best known for her monumentally scaled, color-rich, luminous paintings that interpret the geological storied past and eventful present of the formation of the American wilderness. Winkler has exhibited in solo and group shows nationally in galleries and art fairs since 2004. Her work was recently showcased at the LA Art Fair, Art Aspen, and the Jackson Hole Art Fine Art Fair, at Gallery MAR in Park City, at K Contemporary in Denver, at MiXX Atelier in Telluride, at Foster/White Gallery in Seattle, and Owen Contemporary in Santa Fe. Her artworks are in many prominent private, public and corporate collections.
